Have you ever missed a bill to apply for a refund? Or an important income tax return that has been left somewhere in the house? Or are you looking for a place to keep your important documents somewhere online? The American Tech giant Google has launched a new and extremely useful tool called 'Google Stack.' It is an app that allows you to digitize all kinds of documents, receipt, files and automatically save them in Google Drive, in a new folder called "Stacks". This app is similar to CamScanner.

HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Google Stack App records and archives.
  • The app will specially display the important days in the scanned documents, for example the last day to pay any bill.
  • The stack is powered by Google's advanced security and sign-in technology.

ORIGIN

Stack's team leader, Christopher Pedregal, said, "I joined Google a few years ago, when my education startup, Socratic, was acquired. I used Google's computer vision and language understanding for Socratic high school students So that they can learn easily. I wondered if we could make an app to organize the document using the same technology. That's where I got the idea. "

DEVELOPMENT AND WORKING OF STACK APP

This app has been developed by Google's experimental application development team, Area 120, and will allow us to keep in a cloud, all that documentation that we usually have on the table or stored in a drawer: invoices, purchase receipts, various documents insurance companies, banks, etc everything can be easily digitized using Stack.

But the app does not stop at a simple "scan". The novelty is that using Artificial Intelligence, "Stack" can detect what information is truly important in each digitized document. However, it has been made available only for American Android users. Indian users may have to wait for this now. According to the founder of the stack, the app is still at the initial level.

Documents, bills, receipts can be scanned through a smartphone camera. These can be saved safely by users. The app automatically saves different types of scanned copies by category. It uses Google's Language Recognition and Optical Character Recognition.

The app detects important details such as account numbers, bill arrears, and expiration dates in scanned documents. It also alerts users about bill payments and due dates. You can search the file location in the app using the information in the documents as keywords. With this integrated search you can easily find out in which section the relevant document is stored.

FEATURES OF GOOGLE STACK APP

Documents will be scanned in a PDF file

Pedregal said that this app will scan bills, documents, and receipts in a PDF file and will automatically give those files the name of the stack. The app will let you scan documents fast for the required information. The app will identify important information such as date or total amount and will show it at the top.

Improved security

The Google Scanner app has enhanced security features. To keep data more secure, in addition to traditional encryption, Google allows the use of fingerprints or facial recognition.  Copies of documents can be exported to Google Drive and saved through the app. Google has introduced stack as an experimental app from their company. It is unclear whether Google will continue this experimental app. It is currently available for Android users in the United States. Google has not commented on whether the app will be made available to users in other countries. Currently, US users can download the stack app for free from the Google Play Store.

COMPARED TO EXISTING APPS

Document scanning apps such as Cam Scanner and Adobe Scan are currently gaining popularity around the world. If the Google Stack App is made available worldwide, it will provide stiff competition to other competing companies. This is because the existing scanning apps do not work with AI capabilities. Experts are therefore evaluating the possibility that the stack app, which has a wide range of features, has the upper hand over other apps.

In the latest versions of Android, the Google team has worked on some local detection technologies that apps can use to find objects and users nearby and a new important step in this path is the publication of a new application on the Google Play Store: WifiNanScan App.

The tech-giant, Google recently rolled out a new WifiNanScan App for developers to enhance Wi-Fi Aware tech on smartphones and compatible products. This app lets you measure distance with a precision of about one meter with phones up to 15 meters apart. The new Wi-Fi feature is quite similar to Bluetooth, with the advantage of working over much larger distances. It is an exciting wireless Wifi application with innovative technology.

KEY HIGHLIGHTS

  • The WifiNanScan app is used to validate distance measurements between two smartphones using the Wi-Fi Aware protocol
  • WifiNanScan App is built for developers, vendors, universities
  • Wi-Fi Aware connections support higher transmission speeds over longer distances than Bluetooth connections.

GOOGLE DEFINES THIS APP AS:

The WifiNanScan app measures the distance between two smartphones using the Wi-Fi Aware protocol (also called Neighborhood Aware Networking(NAN)). It’s designed as a research, demonstration, and testing tool for developers, vendors, universities, and more.

WHAT IS WI-FI AWARE?

Wi-Fi Aware is a technology which is also known as Neighbor Awareness Networking (NAN), allows devices based on Android 8.0 (or higher) to "detect and connect directly between them without any other type of connectivity ", like an active internet connection. The API is detecting nearby devices and creating network connections that can" share large amounts of data "or send short messages.

Wi-Fi Aware network connections support higher throughput rates across longer distances than Bluetooth connections. These types of connections are useful for apps that share large amounts of data between users, such as photo-sharing apps.

WHERE YOU CAN FIND THIS APP?

WifiNanScan App for Android has landed on the Google Play Store. WifiNanScan App is created to demonstrate how to exploit NAN technology to detect the distance between two devices ("With this app, it is possible to obtain a distance measurement with an accuracy of about 1 meter with mobile phones away up to 15 meters "). Developers, OEMs, and researchers can use this tool to calculate range and distance.

If you are curious to try the WifiNanScan App for Android, you can download it from the Google Play Store through the following badge:

BENEFITS OF WIFINANSCAN APP

  • With the help of this app, you will be able to send documents to the printer safely. All this will happen without any network login.
  • You will be able to book movie tickets or a seat in any restaurant without an internet connection. This is possible even when the restaurant is closed.
  • You can check-in into Airport Security, Custom, Immigration, without requiring to present a physical ID
  • Automate and timestamp school check-ins and roll-call

A similar app called WifiRttScan was launched a couple of years ago for indoor positioning. The app uses Wi-Fi Round Trip Time instead of GPS for locating users.

Soon, Google might connect these Wi-Fi experiments to create new functionalities built around Wi-Fi Aware wireless connectivity standards into phones, and other smart devices.

Highlights:

  • Sandes is a homegrown App by the Indian Government.
  • Basic features are similar to WhatsApp.
  • It is available on the Apple Store as Sandes
  • Sandes is free and there are no ads in the app
  • It is named as GIMS(Government instant messaging system) in android
  • It is not available on the Play Store but you can download it from the official government website www.gims.gov.in/dash/dlink

Sandes, an instant messaging app of the Government of India and an Indian alternative to WhatsApp, is now accessible to all. This app has been launched by the National Informatics Center (NIC), promotes PM Narendra Modi's Digital India and Atmanirbhaar Bharat (Self-reliant India) initiatives.

The Sandes app can be used by both government officials and personal users. It requires a mobile number or government email ID for sign-up. Once signed up, users can send and receive messages as well as create new groups. The app also supports media file transactions. There is also a section called "Gimoji", which displays symbols used in official communication.

After Koo, which is seen as an alternative to Twitter, the government has its eyes on WhatsApp as it brings Sandes, an instant messaging platform.

If u want to know more about koo, click on the link given below

Is Koo App The Next Twitter?

Now, let's find out whether this messaging app is better than the already installed platform called WhatsApp.

If one looks at the app, its interface is very similar to WhatsApp and this app includes the same features. The main difference between Sandes and WhatsApp is that there is an option to sign up using an email ID and not just a phone number. Previously, it was available only to government officials. WhatsApp only allows you to create an account using your number.

Also, it has verified accounts on its platform, which are not available on WhatsApp. Sandes allows users to share videos or photos up to 500MB while WhatsApp offers the option to send videos with regular files of up to 16MB and 100MB. There is an option which enables you to create a backup of your chats over email as well , which is not the case in whatsapp as it only allows you to create a backup on either Google Drive or iCloud for respective android and ios users .

Meanwhile, the Sandes app does not allow mobile numbers or email IDs to be changed after creating an account. So, if you have a new mobile number or your email ID is lost, you will have to create a new account and all your chats will be lost. Whereas WhatsApp helps to change the phone number without deleting their existing profile.

Currently, Sandes does not have the fingerprint lock feature and screen lock feature, which WhatsApp provides. However, Sandes offers to check the weather details of the city in the app.

Like WhatsApp and other popular instant messaging apps, the Sandes (which can be read as "messages" in Hindi) app developers claim that the app is encrypted end-to-end. The application can be used to send and receive messages or to share media files with contacts. There is also a feature of contact sharing and group chat. Apart from this, users can also broadcast messages. Sources in the government have also confirmed to NDTV that the government is also working on an app named Samvad (which means dialogue). An official of MITY told NDTV that "These apps are being fully developed by the Indian government. It will be an instant messaging app like WhatsApp. "

What data does Sandes collect from users and say about security?

According to the Sandes App's privacy policy, all messages in an individual or group chat are "end-to-end encrypted to ensure secure communication". The policy clearly states that the system "does not sell or share any personally identifiable information to any third party, except as covered by law enforcement/courts, etc.

Sandes App can be run on which devices ?

For now, the Sandes app is only available for Android and iOS users. It is not compatible with tablets, but you can use the web version of the app. Currently, it is also not available on the Play Store. The Sandes app can be downloaded through the GIMS portal. It will run on Android 5.0 and above. The app for iOS users is available on the App Store and supports iOS 12.0 and above.

Download the Sandes App from here

Step 1: All you need to do is go to www.gims.gov.in/dash/dlink  and click on the download button.

Step 2: Open the application and create your account using your mobile number or email ID. The application sends you a six-digit OTP for verification. (Email ID is limited to official ID only - if you sign-up with a Gmail, Hotmail, or other email accounts, you will see a notice, according to which, you cannot use emails from these domains. Even government accounts like @mygov.in are not accepted. The only official @gov.in email can be used in the app. If you do not have an email ID for this domain, you can use your mobile number)

Step 3: Enter your name, gender and upload your profile. The latter is optional and you can choose to skip if you do not want to upload your image.

Step 4: You will also be asked to allow location to the application, you can also skip this. The next window will ask if you want to sync contacts, and then you are all set. You can start messaging anyone.

Last Note

Overall Sandes is an Amazing app. The app's privacy policy is secure for every user as they are quite common and are collected by most messaging apps.
